After our Balinese adventure my handsome other half had to move to the Middle East with work commitments. So sad to see him leave me for weeks at a time. I’m so fortunate that I’m in education and have wonderful holidays assigned to me.
I was so lucky… he came to visit me at the end of September. Yaaaaaay! Thus consisted of a weekend in LONDON!! 😍 I travelled up on the Friday evening (straight from work) and travelled home on the Sunday. What did our weekend consist of I hear you ask?
We’ve previously had our tourist weekend in London, so this was about spending quality time together and making memories.
On arrival at Paddington, I had my Oyster card ready to pounce and bound through the tube stations and onwards to Blackfriars where we had booked the Novotel for our 2 night stay. We had a dominos ordered to the hotel and pink fizz in the fridge chilling. Our room was on the 10th floor, where we had views of Charing Cross and Nelson’s Column.
The Saturday morning consisted of queuing up at Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station. We donned our house colours and chose our wands to enable use to run through towards the Hogwarts Express! I’m a Slytherin, he’s a Ravenclaw. We purchased our copies of the photos and went into the store to buy some Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans.
After our Potter experience we travelled to Camden Town. It was an amazing experience! I adored the atmosphere around the market. It was so vibrant and quirky. Everything you could want or need was there! I stumbled across a henna stall. Anna’s Henna. She completed my design free hand with no template. It was a totally unique design. A cup of bubble tea later we were trying on vintage Burberry trench coats and tweed jackets.
We started feeling hungry and realised how much time had passed and we took the Tube to Bank where we snacked on a boat with views of the London Eye and Westminster, but before wandering through the Malay festival in Trafalgar Square.
Come evening, we had a booking at Northbank Restaurant, where we dined overlooking the Thames and in the near distance could see The Shard, The Globe Theatre and The Tate. Behind us was St Paul’s sitting majestically. The food was to die for, as were the cocktails.

The next morning we headed to Baker Street to be a tourist and we grabbed coffee and breakfast at Pret before making our way back to the station to head home.
